Frequently asked questions
How far in advance can I buy a train ticket in Ukraine?
Sales open 45 days before departure. On busy routes - Kyiv - Lviv, Kyiv - Odesa - berths go quickly, so it is worth booking ahead.
How much does a train ticket cost?
The fare is set by the operator and depends on distance, train category (Intercity+, fast, passenger) and coach type - SV, compartment, open sleeper or seated.
What is the difference between kupe, platskart and SV?
SV is a two-berth luxury compartment. Kupe is four berths behind a door. Platskart is open berths. Seated means chairs, mostly on Intercity+. What a particular train has is visible when you pick a seat.
What is an e-ticket and do I need to print it?
After payment the ticket arrives by email. Printing is not needed: the conductor checks it by your document number or by the QR code on your screen.
Can I refund a train ticket?
Yes, under the operator rules. How much comes back depends on how many hours before departure you return it. The money goes back to the card you paid with.
How do I know whether a train runs on a given day?
Each number page says which days it runs - every day, odd days, even days or specific dates. We take this from the published timetable and check it every week.
